Kokamo May 12th, 07, 05:13 PM can you make any real power with an oem tbi setup or is it a waste of time??? TBI has good potential for low end power. The engine is simply not designed for high RPM powerband where good power is usually made. Altho, you can do some work with them and make them have good power for what it is. You can get different intakes, cams, and different heads, but you have to remember that you are still breathing thru a somewhat small 2 barrel throat. Again, TBI is good for low end grunt, but not 600 RWH. You could prolly get 350 HP out of one, but by the time you got there, you would have spent the money it takes to buy an LT1 setup. Hope this helps, Joe FYI.....I recently got 351 RWHP out of my 89 single cab 2wd Chevy pickup on the stock engine........only modification = 12 #'s of intercooled boost and a custom tune from www.lsracingchips.com JimM May 12th, 07, 06:57 PM Nothing at all wrong with TBI. Holley makes a 670 cfm replacement 2bbl throttle body, or you could get one off a 454 truck in a boneyard. A 670 cfm TBI with an adapter on a performer rpm is all the induction a mild to medium 350 needs. kustomwerker May 13th, 07, 06:01 AM thanx guys...thats pretty much where i was at in my thoughts, but wanted to confirm... |
