Hello - I wanted to get some opinions about my clutch, trans, drive shaft, and gear ratio my Camaro. I have a 1967 RS coupe with a 406 small block making a little over 500hp. It will be connected to a muncie M21 quick ratio trans, an original drive shaft, and an original 12 bolt posi with 411's. I want to use the car to play around on the streets and eat a few vettes. I may encounter some traffic, and will be on a 70mph HWY occasionally. Below are my questions:

1. What clutch would be recommended?
2. Can the M21 handle that power?
3. Should I upgrade the drive shaft?
4. What gear ratio would be suitable for my application...I know I don't want the 411's?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Go to www.ClassicChevy5speed.com and use the calculator to find the RPM range you want to be in while cruising. The Muncie will most likely be fine but, like me, I think you will really be surprised at the performance options the TKO's offer. After looking at the TKO 600, I will be ordering on for my 68 Camaro within a couple of months. As far as the driveshaft, it would depend on how sticky the tires are and how high the RPM's are when you dump the clutch. There are several quality clutch packages out there and I would definitely not scrimp a whole lot there to help guard against the infamous exploding clutch syndrome. Maybe I have answered your question...maybe not...but I tried.
