well its been a while and im still scratching my head at my rear suspension. i want to lower the rear or the car so it will match the front. as of right now the rear sits about an inch or two above my 255/60/15's. i was wondering if i had to have my leaf springs worked on or do i use blocks? how do you use blocks? or is there a special leaf i can buy? i have competition engineering ss traction bars and they sit pretty low to the ground. i love the way a pro touring camaro looks. i would some day like to slap some huge wheels on mine. thanks for all the help.

You have a couple of choices:
1) get de-arched springs that will lower the car - I don't have much experience with them on my Camaro although I've used them on other cars. They've been discussed here before and maybe someone else can suggest a source;
2) install lowering blocks.

I have 2" blocks on mine. I installed them with new 1/2" u-bolts (I replaced the t-bolts) and they work fine. However, they will move the shock plate and traction bars lower to the ground so clearance could become an issue. I don't run traction bars so I can live with the setup.

Or you can do as I did and take your stock springs to a spring shop and have them de-arced.

Al - Are you happy with the results? How much did you lower it and how does the car ride?

Scott...I'm in the middle of putting the car back together right now....so I don't yet know how it will ride.

My stock 4 leaf springs had a reverse arc near the front bushing mount from years of the rubber snubber on the traction bars banging at them, which made the car sit a little bit lower than normal.

My spring man measured them in the free state and from the center of the bushing holes to the top where the rearend mounts it was 4 5/8 to 4 3/4 inches. His book said it should measure something like 5 7/8....so I had him de-arc them to 4 inches.

I hope this gets me close to my goal.

you might want to think about a coilover set up. it all depends on what you want to use the car for though. i have a set up on my car with 7" of adjustment and uses 130lbs springs. the shock has a 3 way adjustment, for light, med, or heavy. you'd have to use a track bar or panhard bar if you plan on hitting the curves. you can then get rid of the springs and this will let you set your car down.
