My clutch just recently went out i went and bought and new clutch and me and my uncle dropped the transmission took off the bell housing and took out the old clutch and then we put the new one in. After that we put the transmission back in and all the bolts and stuff and it ran fun but i got half way down the road and some guy stopped me and said i had a major leak we looked to see what it was and it was a really bad oil leak looked like it was coming out of the oil filter. So i went home and changed the oil filter and the oil and started it up and had my cousin rev the engine and i looked under to see if it was coming out and its definatly not coming out of the filter it looks like its either coming out of the bell housing or the hydrolic pump for the clutch. I'm not sure why that oil would be coming out of those things. I also looked at the oil pan and thats fine too. Could i possibly have pierced a oil hose when we dropped the transmission and it pulled the engine down. I have no clue to what this could be because it never leaked oil before we changed the clutch. We also never removed the flywheel either. So we didn't get behind that were that seal is. Someone please tell me where my oil leak is coming from thanks,

Mike.

It sounds like an oil line or rear main seal? But the LT1's are also known to leak at the rear of the intake manifold and at the "A.I.R." return port on the passenger side, rear of the block. Both of which you hould be able to get at from the top without removing the motor. Each of those would not be a LOT of oil though - just enough to make a mess and smoke if they hit the manifold.

Just curious but is it leaking down onto the starter motor mount?

For what it's worth, I had a serious oil leak on a 350 in a 94, it turned out to be the gasket UNDER the oil filter adapter. Might be worth a check, the O ring and gasket are only $3.75 and checking it only takes a few minutes. Remove the filter, remove two bolts, the adapter falls pulls right out.

Ive looked at it for the past couple of days and what ive noticed is that it only leaks oil when i turn the car on and run it not when its just sitting there?
