I put her up on the lift and turned one wheel and the other didnt turn , just once in a while. My questions are ;
How much slip should it have ?
Whats the best way for the assembely to come apart ?
Is there a better way to check the diff ?
it is a 12 bolt GM posi
( for the record I did a small burnout the other day and both wheels left marks so they were both turning )

Thje clutches need to be shimmed or replaced. Many times shimming is all that is needed, but if the clutches need to be replaced then you have some options. This is an Eaton posi and there are 4 different types of clutches available for it. You can get the new carbon fiber cluthces, the 18 disc steel clutches, the 22 disc steel clutches or the composit clutches. It will have the 18 disc steel clutches in it now, which are good for most street and mild strip use. You also have the 22 pound preload springs. You can replace them with 400 or 800 pound springs. There are many options with the Eaton, which is why it is one of the best.

Not trying to hijack :D
Freddie, would you remember what # springs are in mine and/or Do you think the 800# er's are too much for the street ?

The 200 pound springs were standard in the original Chevy Eaton posi. The new Eaton comes with 400 pound springs. The 200 pound springs are usually green, or they may not have any color on them. The 400 pound springs are yellow and the 800 pound springs are red. The 400 pound springs are enough for most street/strip use with the 18 disc clutch set and might cause a little bit of clutch chatter. The red springs should be used for drag racing with the 22 disc clutch set.
