take pictures of the wiring you have hanging in the engine compartment unconnected now, clearly showing the colors of the wires and where they are coming from. Post them here or on a website and people can probably tell you what each connector goes to.

I was wondering where the black and red wire go from the rotor under the cap?

Alternator: The car was a 327 and the previous owner converted it to a 350 so the alternator was relocated. I really don't know if I connected the wire correctly. The owner split the two wires(yellow & pruple) and spliced them to one red wire and I am guessing that red wire goes where the alternator says Batt. Do I need to ground the alternator where is says ground? Also the plug that goes in the alternator is no where on the car. I really have no idea what the owner was doing. PLease help

Personally I'd get a schematic and figure it out. What you've got there looks like a hack job, and I wouldn't dare comment on what someone else did to the electrical system.
