i did a crate motor from engine factory 350/430hp loaded inside , hooked it up to tko 600 5 speed tranny and used a ron davis radiator with twin spal fans. there are less expensive alternatives too.

I bought a turn-key 383.. added a 700R4, long water pump, and alum radiator.
I decided against the electric fan and installed a Flex-a-lite 7-blade fan.
My '68 runs and cools fantastic.. I'm very happy.

Yes, fuel pump was really tight against the cross member-no matter the clocking. I believe I ended up using a carter pump.

See my signature for what I went with.
Used a short water pump and electric fan.
Used a Holley Blue Electric fuel pump.
