Anyone know the correct colors for the brake line clips for a J 52 brake system?

During dissasembly I removed blue colored brake line clips and a pale green fuel line clips.

I do not know if these colors are correct but these were covered in grease and never had a chance to rust.

I did try several searches but no specs on colors.

Any help would be appreciated. I can post pictures of the removed clips if it helps.

You are correct with the blue and green colors. I observed the same thing when I replaced my originals. I replaced mine with the correct color clips. I would jhave to look at mine in person to be able to tell you what sequence they are in. If I recall, most were blue.

Thanks for the info Jonesy you always seem to know what is technically correct. This is a big help as I have searched the net and have not come up with any info.

When you mentioned replace did you buy painted replacements from somewhere or did you have to repaint to match.

The cut away 69 at Ricks has the green color in some of its detailing.

I will look through my dismantling photos and try and come up with the combination/placement of each color for the clips.

One more question if you would please. Do the power brake hose brackets that mount to the frame get plated, painted or were they unfinished from the factory?

No problem, it helps when you do alot of a resto yourself and pay attention to the details. I also had a fairly clean and rust free car to work with. Plus I owned it for 24 years and know that it is original. I bought a fuel line and brake line clip kit from Rick's and compared them to my originals and they were a match. They already come in the correct colors. I took my lines off and left them intact and with the clips on them so when I put my new lines on, I could reference the color and proper size of the clips. I had dual fuel lines on my car. There were a couple of clips that were not exact, so I reused the ones I had because they were the originals and were in nice shape. No painting was required as they had no paint on them.

The hose brackets on my car were natural steel, but I painted them black. I dont know if this was from brake fluid eating the paint away or not. The clamp that bolts to the hose bracket on the drivers side was natural steel also, with 2 rubber grommets around the brake lines. I have some pics of that in my signature below. If you need and pics or other info, I would be happy to provide it. I have a digital camera. I am postive I have all the correct clamps/clips in place.

Again a big thanks Jonesy

I think I am okay with the clips clips. I have all the old lines and they show the clip locations faily well. My fuel line clips are also natural under the chassie but the one on the subframe font engine crossmember was colored. Single fuel line car though.

I did want to ask you what color did you use on your rear leaf springs they look great also I have painted the front coils on this coupe cast blast. It looks good and close to a blasted finish of the coils. I realize that these should be a natural finish. I just wanted to know what you did as I did not see a pic of them in your very nicely done resto photos.

What are the choices with parts needing natural finish? If just clear what manufactor? I want to stay away from oil and waxes for this. I live in the East Coast and moisture is always a concern here.

Anything that was supposed to be natural cast, I painted to give it that look. I used paints from Eastwood. There was an aluminum and a cast iron paint that give the look. I would have to go look as I saved the cans. I didnt want things to rust up, I went for the look and tried to make them look as natural as possible. I did clear some items that were not heat sensitive. I bought the steel lines and cleared them. They probably wont rust anyway.
