I have been trying for two days now to mount the poper selenoid on the 68. I can't find a spot that will work for it  . It either doesn't pull far enough or the angle doesn't work. Where do you put yours? Thanks

I can’t help with location but here is an idea for you and what needs to be done when adding door solenoids.
First, make sure the door is lined up properly and opens and closes easily. Adjust the door striker pin if needed and replace any worn hinges and/or bushings.
If you have the time, take the latch out of the door and soak it in a cleaning solution to remove all of the old grease and oil and once it is clean, relube it.
I’m working on a 56 Chevrolet for a customer and I had to make custom inside door handle releases. I took an inside hood release handle assembly off of an import and shortened the cable and sheathing to make it work. If there is not a spot to easily mount your solenoids to pull on the latch you could relocate the solenoid and then use a bicycle type brake cable and shorten it as needed. I ended up buying some bicycle cable slack adjusters and used them on the 56 so when the cable does stretch I have an easy way to take the slack out of the cable without having to a lot of work.
I have also seen installations to where persons use small pullys to change the direction of the cable between the solenoid and the latch.
One last thing is about the wiring for the solenoids. DO NOT ground them inside the door. If they are a self grounding style (one wire) then add a 12 gauge ground wire from one of it’s mounting bolts and run it into the interior of the car and then ground it to a clean bare metal spot on the firewall.
