I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the correct belt set up for a 1976 305 engine. The way mine is set up now doesn't look right. The alternator/water pump/crank belt is so close to the lower radiator hose, I could barely fit a piece of paper inbetween the hose and the belt. While it’s not touching right now, I’m afraid it could in the near future. The crank has a triple pulley with the power steering belt on the inside, the water pump has a double pulley set up and the alternator has a single pulley that lines up with the inner pulley on the water pump, and the middle pulley on the crank. Is the belt supposed to be on the outer pulleys which would mean I have the wrong alternator bracket? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
