Looking to understand the process/procedure to repaint the dash...NOT the Dash pad. Specifically, do you just need to degrease and and paint over the top of the existing paint OR sand down, prime and then paint?

if you are doing the top go with a textured finish.

Degrease it first, a BUNCH of times, over and over. Dashes tend to get a lot of armorall. If you don't get it off, sanding will force it into the remaining paint, and your new paint will come off.

I agree with all on the degreasing. I used a solvent then sanded with a 400 grit and spray bombed both the top and front with a NAPA semi gloss black. Still looks good after almost 20 years. Jim

I used paint stripper to remove the paint from my dash and sanded it down. I primed and painted it with Kyrlon semi flat and sprayed three coats of Krylon satin clear. It turned out real nice and was easy to spray.
