I just want to say, too alllll the scared newbies out there... Paint your own car! This was sooooo easy and everything is perfect. I havent even cut and buffed yet, although i dont have to. I firmly believe in the motoguard toilet filter and astro lvlp. Look, NO OVERSPRAY on floor! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x246/andrewt_33/DSCFa0023.jpgYea, I know, Im excited... But, why not, this was very easy... from this to this :http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x246/andrewt_33/DSCF0097Large.jpg

For me, the key to low orange peel is distance and multiple coverage (like 3 passes with no runs)...

Looks awesome! Just one question - where's the obligatory rear spoiler?

Nice job on the paint -- is it basecoat/clearcoat?

Nice Work---What brand paint did you use? Did you spray primer before painting, as I notice one pic in sanded condition? I will paint mine in the future as a newbie. Now I'm not so nervous.

I agree - looks great! Nice job. Did you paint it in that garage? How did you manage to keep from getting paint all over your tool box, etc? What did you use for an exhaust fan? What gun did you use? What brand of paint is that?

Nice job...

The hardest thing about painting is the prep work getting to the point of being ready to paint :) The reward is the painting part. I haven't painted a car since the early 90's but painted an average of a car/truck/van every week for 14 years. The pride of a job well done is great isn't it!

I think the verts look better without a spoiler. I couldnt get any decent repros, so I welded the holes in mine. All that heat warped it in those areas, so I spent like a week on just the trunk... In total, its been 3 months of 6 hour days... But, being my first, it was lots of fun...

Nason ful-base, no hardener, 50% reduced and ligjt passes in a cross patten. no tiger stripes or faded areas.

I bought the astro LVLP gun kit and they kick butt! Used AC furnace filters taped to the bottom of my garage (about a foot high), and a honeywell heavy duty floor fan at the side door. Hardlyy any overspray at 20pounds at the gun. Same pressure for the primer gun.

Sixty, you are so correct. I spent a week on each panel to get it perfect before primer, then epoxy and nason 2k high build. Since Im retired, I may get into this full time.
