I'm not really sure of what to call this, but here it goes:

On my side window seal channel, the "U" shaped stainless piece that holds the window seal material, that mounts under the drip rail area, that the side windows roll up into, there is a little tab with a plastic tip that helps to guide the window glass into place.

That little tab is rusted and needs replaced. Does anyone make a reproduction?

I believe it it riveted to the channel and it's called a blow out clip. I dont think anyone reproduces these. It should be coated with rubber/plastic. When I had mine off I taped everything off but the clip and lightly blasted it and then painted it black and dipped it in a liquid rubber caoting and it turned out great.

The problem is that these "blow out" clips on my channels are completely rusted away and require replacing.
Anybody have a source, or parts off scrapped "U" channels?
If I could get some close up photos I might be able to fabricate a pair.

The clips are available from resto houses. I replaced mine when my channel was off the car. I used pop rivets with with the nail removed. I used a grommet tool to spread the rivet, and then hammered it flat with a drift.

You could use pop rivets while the channel is in place, but you would have to drill into the underside of the drip rail. I did not want to do that.

Rick's First gen has them, very easy fix,but they should be off the car.

They're made of spring steel, which would make them hard to fabricate. New set of 4 is less than $10.

Excellent info. They are off the car and the tabs shouldn't be hard to rivet into place. I
will be ordering other stuff from Rick's. When I get my shopping list completed i'll pay them a visit since they are withing driving range.
Thanks!

Let's expand upon this question a little. What have your guys found that will remove the glue and tape from the "U" channel. I have tried Easy-off oven cleaner with a little success.

I used lacquer thinner. THe other stuff that works well is Permatex gasket remover.

What type of tape should you use to put back on the "U" channel it looked like some kind of window weather strip. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what they used? Thanks, Mike

I used the 1/16" thick foam sealing strip used between truck bed and cap. Got it at Pep Boys.

The blow out clips kit has two different sizes in the package. Which one goes near the windshield, and which goes further back?

Well guys, I am back on the blow out clips. My car is in the paint shop and I am working on details like this.
Does the larger blowout clip go nearer the windshield?
