Would like to know what would be the best primer to use on the under body of a 69 camaro coupe after sand blasting. I will be having a weld shop make some small repairs to the floor area after it has been primed. I would using rustolium rusty metal primer and would the rustolium semi gloss black be a good match for the top coat? any ideas out there would be great. thanks Steve:confused:

If you have the equipment & facilities to use a spray gun, I would recommend a good epoxy primer. After the welding is done, I would clean up the welds good and re-epoxy those places too.

If you must use a rattle can, I would recommend something like Zero Rust or Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator.

I'm sure some some will suggest Por 15 which seems to work well too but I have no experience with it and I'm not sure about how well it takes a coat of paint.

I personally use paint products from www.southernpolyurethanes.com
I believe they are as good as any and reasonably priced. The only drawback is you will probably have to order it because there aren't many jobbers around who carry it. Their website also has a link to a forum where you can read all about their products and learn a lot about painting in general. Here it is, http://spi.forumup.org/index.php?mforum=spi

Your other option is going with a big name like PPG or Dupont from a local auto paint store but they also carry a big price! There are other companies who make epoxy primers but I'm not familiar with the names or quality. Even some parts stores carry different lines.
