"Moderate" is kind of a relative term when it comes to Hot August Nights. The crappier hotels are going to be cheaper, but then you're in a crappy hotel. It depends on what you're willing to put up with. (When you're asleep, they're all like the Hilton) If there are any great deals fort that week I'm not aware of them.

I've been to HAN at least 13 or 14 times - NEVER had a room booked in advance, and have always found a room. The thing is, HAN is Reno's busiest week of the year, and the hotels jack up their prices because the demand is so high and they know they can get the rates they're asking.

I'll be there Wed - Sun with the Pacer. We are staying at John Ascuaga's. Downtown got a bit scary for me last year.

BPOS the Hilton hotel is now called the Grand Sierra Resort. Just thought you would like to know. I'll be there too. Where are we gonna setup a metting place? Back at the A&W on plumb street?

Saw an article, they are closing downtown at 6 pm. Guess it got bad last year.

I'm staying @ the Silver Legacy. As soon as the sun goes down the cockroaches(gangbangers) come out to play on Virginia Street. I then hole up in the Casino. I'll be in Reno Sun to Sat AM. Lunch sounds good. Just tell me where.

The downtown cruise is now a thing of the past and won't be happening. Cops say that too much gang violence and what-not have stopped this tradition. Sorry to say. Sparks will be the happening place this year. Most will be moving there in spite of the cruise stoppage.

According to http://www.hotaugustnights.net/venues , there will still be cruising downtown. It is really cool during the week, but it gets a bit scary on Friday and Saturday.

As far as lunch goes, how 'bout Red Robin on Kitzke and Mccarran at noon on Friday? That has been a good spot in the past...

Hey Chuck (and everyone else), the one time I went to Hot August Nights, I stayed in a room that DID NOT HAVE AC and it darn near killed me! So, all hotels are not created equal and the ones without AC just don't have any value---- might as well sleep in your car (and I have been known to do that too)! Charlie 69 RS

Last year (I think) there was some good mini-show at the A and W off of Plum on Friday and Saturday night after the main cruise on Virginia street was closed off.... There was also a small burnout contest there, pretty fun, did not make it back to the hotel until about 1:30 am and when we left it was still going on....

I think the A & W hosts a different event on different nights where different manufacturers are highlighted..... in otherwords I think it's different. I think there's a Mopar gathering one night, a Chevy another, Ford another, etc...

I'll be there, but I live in Reno. I just have to finish putting in the coil springs, torquing the remainder of the front end, drop in the 408', run fuel and brake lines and I am good to go. Here is the Camaro:

My license plate is Nevada and starts with small letters that say - 'classic rod' then the #.

I am also a member of the Hot August Nights organization, but my duties this year are limited to judging on Saturday.

I'm driving to Chico next weekend, hoping to arrive Friday night.
I wanted to checkout the cool 1st gens on Friday "day" in Reno.

I've never been to this show and I was hoping you guys could suggest some fun Camaro/60'sMuscleCar events on Friday!
I looked at the hourly.pdf :confused:
1) Where are you guys going on Friday?
2) I see "Show-n-Shine" at several locations?
3) Do the casino's have shuttles to events?
4) I was hoping to stay at a hotel, that had muscle cars on Friday?
5) Does this show or Team Camaro have promotional codes or discounts at any Sparks/Reno hotels?

We didn't know for sure, when or where we'd be Thursday night, so I didn't make hotel reservations anywhere.
LOL, big mistake.. :clonk:

We stopped in Winnemucca, NV around 9pm.
All hotels were sold out??? (in Winnemucca???)
Lovelock, Sparks, Reno, Boomtown and even Tahoe were all sold out.
We did see some very nice old cars in the parking lots, (all alone, made me worry).
We got into Chico around 3am..

So, I'm hoping some of you guys will post some pics, or links to your pics from Reno.
I'd love to see what I missed this year!

Hotels sold out in Winnemuca? Well why not try to get one at Fernley or Fallon? Still only an hour away, but close enough to get to festivities at a decent time. Just a thought

Well the show for us was great. We stayed at the Silver Legacy and saw both Wednesday and Thursday night cruises. My eyes and lungs are still burning from all the fumes, but worth every minute. Took some videos and about 60 still shots from the cruise and shows. Will try and post some pics later once I down size them for the web.
