I just removed the front clip off my '69 and have a question about the fasteners used to attach the fenders. Specifically, the bolt just forward of the rocker at the bottom.. Looking at the assembly manual, it looks like I should have a bolt that goes up through the fender and screws into the body.. On both sides, I have a short stud sticking out of the body neither of which are long enough to attach the fender using a nut and washer. Im guessing there was a bolt there at one point but the head snapped off. If this is correct, does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the remaining bolt? Thanks!!

That's what it sounds like. The j clips that the bolt goes into is notorious for problems. If you take your fender off, you can buy those clips new at places like Lowes.

There are two each side. One is a J nut and one is a captured nut.

I see the J-Clip and they are in good shape. The problem I am having is with the other bolt which is closest to the rocker panel.

Those screw into nuts welded into the rocker.

When I took mine apart, one broke. I ground it flat, drilled it out, and tapped it with a 3/8-16 tap. It's held up great.

if there is enough sticking out weld a nut on it and quench it with oil. the heat from mig welding the nut and oil should break it loose.
