Hi Guys,

I'm trying to get some details on what the underneath of my 68 Camaro Coupe should look like. Was it painted? Did it have body deadener? If so where did it start and stop etc.

Thanks in advance, MJ

Edit: PS: I'm wanting to restore it to original condition

Look in the thread "Looking for ideas on painting the underside of my car" and look at the photo of Fred Ficarra's underbody.

Had a look at that car but it looks neither like the top coat or black. Kinda looks like both coats combined. Is the bottom usually black? I've been told it should be 30% gloss black same as the engine bay.

The bottom of the underbody only got primer, with a little body color overspray from the guns that sprayed the rockers.

So what was the primer color??? I gather from what you said and those pictures that I just prime the bottom and not mask the bottom when we paint the top coat. This is all news to me but those pictures sure do seem to back up what you say.

Does anyone else have some more pics or the underneith of an original 68 Camaro?

Cheers, MJ
