heres the deal.... i have the car on jack stands. the frame is off. before i put it back on i want to paint under the car.
any ideas on how to get this done with the car on the ground? im thinking i can get the car about 2 or 3 feet off the ground.
just not sure if there is any rattle can spray that might work. should i get a compressure and a el cheapo spray gun?

Yes get a compressor and look at harbour frieghts 2 quart pressure pot/spray gun setup. This will allow you to spray at any angle under the car. ED

If you have a gravity feed gun, you can buy cup fillers to go in it, sorta like a ziplock bag. This allows for easy cleanup of the gun, and it allows you to paint at about any angle. Most paint supply shops have this.

I ended up using rattle cans on mine. I cleaned all the grime and undercoating off with my angle grinder and a metal brush cup. Then wiped it down with laquer thinner. I used "rust bullet" and brushed on 2 coats. It requires less prep that POR-15. Then I primed and painted with Rustoleum 7777 satin black. Over all, it turned out pretty good and is easy to touch up. It won't turn out as nice as using a spray gun, but I'm happy with the overall results.

Fred, is that an aftermarket cruise control pickup coil on the bracket bolted to the floor ? and does it work ?. I just saw it and had to ask if it worked. Most of the cruise controls I did years ago required the pickup coil (that gets a signal from the magnets on the driveshaft) to be mounted closer to the front universal joint on the driveshaft. If it was too far back having the suspension travel up and down (as well as the driveshaft moving on an arc from the front universal joint) would cause it to work poorly. If it's not working you might have to move the pickup coil (and magnets on the driveshaft) from where they are now. Just wanted to help.

Thanks for that Jim. No, it's not working. I haven't re-installed a magnet on the new aluminum drive shaft. And with the new 4000RPM stall Super Street fighter, I don't have cruising too high on my list. But it still would work, I think.
