My twin boys decided to dump a gallon of oil on my ney carpet behind the pas. seat. Got most of it out, can oil be removed? Or do I need to replace the carpet? Thanks,

Dawn dishwashing detergent, hot water, scrub brush, and a wet vacuum. Soak the carpet, let it sit, vacuum.

I have been able to remove oil with soaking and absorbing up WD40, then go over the same with cleaner. But, it was a small spot, about the size of a dollar bill.

Take the rear carpet right out, as Everett says detergent, scrub in let soak...
A water blaster, not too close helps.

Take the carpet out i`m sure the oil soaked right thru.Spray with castrol superclean and hose it off over and over.Castrol superclean works well and wont dye the carpet just dont get it on your hands.

I'm a fan of both Dawn and Castrol Super Clean. I buy the Super Clean by the gallon and use it on everything. Either of the two and lots of elbow grease will do the trick.

Man the price of carpet is not cheap at around $115.00 and shipping but the 1/2 day to clean it I really have to wonder if its worth it. A day of overtime at work might pay off in this case. I would be concerned with that much oil doing damage to the underlay, jute and glue. Patroleum has way of making things just come apart when that much has been spilled.

Your boys sound like they might get into as much trouble as I was when I was young!!! If they do your in for some exciting times...........just ask my mom....LOL.
