Hi, I have a 1970 truck that has some thing going on with the GM HEI coil. It is arcing where the two wires comes out of the coil onto the metal ring around the coil. This is the second one I have put on there and it is still arching Any help with this would be great. Thanks

Have you pulled the cap to check the rotor and cap for carbon tracking or sever burning or corrosion? Check to make sure the spring loaded brush is present in the inside top center of the cap. You could ohm out your plug wires - they'll be different resistances as a result of their length, but should be within 15% or each other - give or take.

Yes I have replaced the cap ,rotor button and the spring and carbon is new. I ohmed the wires where is what I found
#1 wire is 5.63 #8 wire is 3.05
#3 wire is 4.47 #6 wire is 4.44
#5 wire is 3.09 #4 wire is 3.61
#7 wire is 3.31 #2 wire is 4.51
should there be this much difference is the ohm reading? Also The wire that is arcing is the red wire that is coming out of the coil at the base where is is sealed in epoxy. Thanks

Plugs gapped too much? 0.045" is HEI gap requirement, I think. If it is leaking internally of the epoxy, then its gone as every arc leaves and adds a carbon path and the only way to prevent arcing is to replace the arcing piece.
Coil wires do look good if those readings are kilo ohms, 1K per foot is good rule of thumb. Lean fuel mixtures makes for a high resistance and causes poor plug performance.
