I want to replace the subframe in my '67 vert Firebird. I know from searching that a '73 Omega sub wull fit. The Omega has a 6 cylinder in it, but I have an '95 LT1 to put in my Bird anyways. Will the 95 LT1 bolt to the mounts in the Omega subframe? I know I would have to change out the mounts anyways from the Birds mounts to the Chevy small blocks mounts, can I kill 2 birds with one stone here?

Get a new subframe and get the mounts I need to bolt up my small block 350? Don't know if the Omega 6 cyl, shares the same mounting system as a small block chevy?

Thanks for any info,
Patrick

I just recently changed my sub on my 68 from the original twisted one to a straight 74 nova 6 cyl one. THe 6 cyl mounts are totally different than the v8 ones. Just get a set of SBC perches and make sure they match you motor mounts. THere are two different width perches, so get the perches than measure them to get the correct motor mounts. Really easy though. Let me know if you have any questions.

I really appreciate that info, if I do that I might just pull my sub and swap out the mounts on my sub. I was thinking it would be nice to have the extra sub to work on while I still have my driving, I guess I will have to make a decision on that. I think my stock sub is fine, but was going to pick up the Omega one since it was cheap.

Where did you buy your mounts from? Year one, NPD, etc...?

Thanks.

your pontiac engine stands are different than SB chevy frame stands
so you will have to buy the stands anyway

I used my old frame perches for the swap. You can get them through the aftermarket companies you have mentioned, Ebay or maybe get them locally (to you). 400bird is correct, the pontiac and SBC ones are different.
