Say I forgot to tighten the passenger shock down all the way......will this make the stance off a little? My drivers side is measuring 1" higher than the passenger side.

Myfirst 69SS Jun 2nd, 07, 12:27 PM Springs determine ride height not shocks. fireeater Jun 2nd, 07, 12:33 PM OK. Went back out, jacked up the car, loosened all the shackle bolts and let the car back down. I rocked it back and forth, up and down and now it sits even higher on both sides. ?????? What next? Chuck Jun 2nd, 07, 12:46 PM When you jacked up the car was it supported by the suspension or frame? You should tighten suspension bushings with the weight of the car on them. 67pat Jun 2nd, 07, 01:01 PM If you've got the shackles loose let it sit for 24 hour then roll it...dont drive it but roll it back and forth about 20ft in both directions...then tighten it down with the weight on the tires or jacked up on the suspension.I did a Hotchkis swap that I finished last night and it was sitting all kinds of weird when I finished...looked alot better this morning after sitting about 18 hours and after I rolled it around some...(Thanks JimM for that tidbit from an old post)...its sitting quite WICKED! looking I must say! fireeater Jun 2nd, 07, 01:02 PM I haven't tightened anything back up. Although I didn't loosen the shocks. Should that be done? blainedoe Jun 2nd, 07, 02:31 PM in simple terms all your shocks do is slow the travel of movement in the suspension so it doesn't react to quickly and that's what reduces the bouncing effect. has no effect on ride height one way or the other unless there to short or to long. dukemd66 Jun 3rd, 07, 10:48 AM I am wondering if any has ever done a rearend and dropped it down and it sat right. Sure seems like this is a common problem. I am going to sit my car down today and I am crossing my fingers. 400bird Jun 3rd, 07, 01:18 PM I am wondering if any has ever done a rearend and dropped it down and it sat right. Sure seems like this is a common problem. I am going to sit my car down today and I am crossing my fingers. My rear sits within 1/4" of level, first try with hotchkis springs once I got the right springs, it sat level with the first set but too far forward fireeater Jun 3rd, 07, 02:10 PM Going to try the 20' push and pull and will let you guys know the outcome. I wonder if I should undo the Slide a Links also. 400bird Jun 4th, 07, 01:13 AM they should be loose, cause i think they could be holding one side up fireeater Jun 4th, 07, 04:42 AM Going to loosen up the links on Tuesday, let it sit for 24 hours, then do the roll. I am still waiting for my driveshaft from Strange so I have nothing but time. Thanks for all the replies so far. I will keep an update on everything as time goes by. Dave |
