View Full Version : Looking for a posi rear end...what fits? james7773 Jun 2nd, 07, 11:34 AM Im curious as to what GM complete rear ends will work under a 67 Camaro with little or no mods to the rear end. TJS69 Jun 2nd, 07, 11:42 AM How much horsepower are you planning to run ? If you go in the 400 HP area just install an Eaton Posi, new gears, and bearings and Moser axles in what you have. A 68-72 Nova is a direct swap. james7773 Jun 2nd, 07, 11:49 AM I have no idea on the HP. Heres whats in it right now, and maybe you can help. 327 L30 bored .40 over, World heads SR Torker 2.02 76cc, eldebrock preformer intake with a 650 eldebrock carb. Its also got a Crane RV cam (I like the lop). 700R4 tranny. I cant find a shop around me that does rear end re-builds so im trying to find a complete unit already done up with posi and 3.73 gears. Chuck Jun 2nd, 07, 12:59 PM It all dependes on fat your wallet is. Currie and Moser both sell bolt-in 12 bolt & 9" as well as Dana complete rear ends. You can even get them with brakes. They have a variety of gear ratios, posi units, axles, and so on. Get the best one you can afford, especially if you ever plan to flog it on the strip. You might want to think about a stronger driveshaft. A rear end will cost around 2 grand and a driveshaft around $300-for the good stuff. The money pit is very deep! onovakind67 Jun 2nd, 07, 01:02 PM A 68-79 Nova or sister car rear end will bolt right in. Many of the 75-79 rears are the 8.5" version, plenty strong for a street car and pretty cheap at the boneyard. 68z28sd Jun 6th, 07, 11:02 AM caddilac seville of same era has discs in the rear. same as a nova should fit? |
