i have a 69 camaro and i installed a factoty rpm clock and it has a msd box, coil and distributor. the rpm gage does not wind up as fast as the engine does. i had a autometer on it before and it rev. up as fast as the engine. does any one know what is going on here? do i need to get something else to make the factory tach rev. up as quik as the engine does?

Factory tachs do not keep up well with a fast reving engine. Thats just the way they are. At cruise RPM they can be just as accurate as new aftermarket tachs. In the old days, having a accurate tach for a fast reving engine meant using a mech tach.

You might try a tach filter. MSD sells one, or you could build this: http://www.camaros.net/techref/electrical/tachfilter/
Certainly not a guaranteed fix in this case, but something cheap and easy to try.

The filter is to condition the signal into the tach so the tach works better. I'm not positive it will work in your case, but all you have to lose is $5 and a couple hours.

Also, please try to keep the forums neat. 1 post per issue, if you could. It's gonna take me some time later to clean up all these multiple posts, including dragging up something a year old concerning a differnet year car....
