My '69 has shoulder belts up on the headliner. I never use them because it's a pain putting them back up in place all the time.
Were the shoulder belts std. or were they an option in '69
(My '69 has std interior)

Front shoulder belts were a federal mandatory option in 69 except for convertibles.

Thanks. I see quite a few '69's on Ebay that don't have them. I was just wondering.

I have the same issue with my 68. I wonder if it would be possible to install a modern type seat belt in 1st gen Camaro's.
I believe the federal mandate went into effect Jan 1 of '69. I think there was a debate about early production 69's not getting them. I can't for the life of me recall having them in my 1st '69 back in the 70's.
Milt - there are aftermarket belts you can install with the sholder harness and lap all one on a retractor...

I still have the separate lap and the shoulder units...
From the orginal documentation that I have with the car, these where added as opitions...
The car is an ex show room car, De Anzo chev dealer in Riverside , CA
Being ex show room/Demo it is very much a oddball with ex factory stuff that normal production cars dont have....trim, sway bars, gauges etc

Milt's 68 SS/RS 396,
A company named Morris Classic Concepts makes over the shoulder belts for our cars. They bolt in exactly where the factory holes are. I installed them in my car in a half an hour and they look great. They are very comfortable also and I am very picky about the comfort of my seat belts. Check out this web site.

From CRG:
"The shoulder harnesses are well known to '68 and '69 Camaro owners because they became standard equipment required by Federal Law on coupes beginning 1 January, 1968. However, the '67 version is a unique animal compared with these later harnesses."
