i have a 68 true RS without the hide-a-ways, how much is the car worth if i spend the $1000 bucks to put them back in?

how much is it worth now?

327 30 over, 700r4 auto, 3.73 posi in a 12 bolt, all new (clear LOF) glass/molding, covans 6 gauge dash, all new interior, piant is in good shape, runs real good, msd 6a, horse shoe shifter. very little surface rust in the trunk pan about to POR it. floor pans are solid. 9500 miles since the rebiuld.

i hate to part with the car but we have another baby on the way so something has to give...

thanks

Man its hard to say .. you have a nice Camaro there. Im still scratching my head as to why the front end was changed to a standard one.

I know when I was looking for my 67 I said to myself " It has to be an RS " cause I just love the way the RS option looks .. Especially the Hide a way lights. Im sure Im not the only one who thinks like that .

So Im sure it would help to change it back , but as far as adding a higher value on top of the car to sell .. Dunno .

When looking at appraisals Ive noticed they usually allow 10 percent in addition to the value of a standard car for the RS option.

To me, the hide away head lights add at least a $1000 to the value of the car, and may help sell it faster considering it's kind of a half breed right now.
I am not sure about your being a true RS though, those are not 68 RS tailights, back up lights look a little off (not sure without a straight on picture), and missing some other RS/style trim pieces.
Why are you sure it's a true RS?

all the wiring is factory, never been replaced, headlight switch has the vac lines, how else can i tell?
the guy i got it from said that he just couldnt afford to dump another grand to put the right lights on.

as for the tail lights i know they are from a 67 i am going to change those.

Tony -

No offense, but I have the same question as James. Your car has 67 RS taillights, and the reverse lamps look too high in the panel (too close to the bumper) to be original.

Does it have the stamped hole to the driver side of the master cylinder/booster for the RS hoses to the headlight switch?

Okay, nevermind :)

The only real true 100% way of verifying that the car was an original RS is with documentation which if you do not have it is not available for USA sold cars but is for Canadian sold cars.

no offense taken from anyone...thats why i'am asking all of you guys.

i have to check for the hole...

i dont have any paper work.

soo what do you guys think its worth just like it is?

do you think i can get more out of it with the rs lights?

lets say its a clone (which doesnt matter to me) how much is it worth?

Do the hose come through the firewall by the master cylinder?
Is the wiring harness for the front connected to the lights in the valance panel or grill?
Are the fenders RS or standard headlight versions?

It appears that is already a SS clone with some RS stuff.
I would install the rest of the RS stuff, because it's just not right the way it is and that detracts from the value.

Nope your not the only one. For me the RS package, whether its a 67, 68 or 69 adds so much to the car. I absolutely love the hideaways..both for looks and just the cool factor of turning on the lights and having them slide open. For me it had to be an RS as well.
