As more and more 6 cyl Camaros have their engines pulled for a more powerful firebreathing v8 makes me wonder if one day a #s match 6 cyl might be worth something and hard to find..?? Just a thought.http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u74/67restoproj/origowner2.jpg http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u74/67restoproj/

...one thing for sure, ...it's been a LONG time since I've seen an original (or restored) 6 cylinder.
...Cool photo by the way, ...and in Black no less

I bet you are right the six will be more rare than a pace car one day. At this time the craze is v8 but .... The six really shows the era if you ask me. The body style is what looks so good. I cant see removing a #s match 6 that would be just as much of a loss.

To me, being a blue-collar working man with a DEEP love of the small block, it would be very very hard to convince me to shell out some serious cash for a clean 6-banger. I would be more apt to pay for a pieced together ZZ4/TH400 car than the matching 6-cylinder.

That being said, if I were made of money and could have any car I wanted, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a prestine 6-cylinder first gen. As blueSS said, it shows that you love the car for the styling, engineering, ride, and feel....not just for the fire-breathing drivetrain that HAPPENS to be in a first gen Camaro.

I saw a mint, all original 6 cylinder 67 at a car show a couple years ago. I almost tipped over when i saw the engine. It was the only one I had seen up until that time. Talk about lots of room left over in the engine compartment. Was very cool to see though.

My first Camaro was a '69 250 inline 6 with a Saginaw 4 speed. Hugger Orange with a white vinyl top and standard white interior.

The car drove very well and was very balanced - it could even chirp the tires if you dropped the clutch.

Unfortunately, a subsequent owner yanked the 6 and dropped in a V8.

Personally, I would like to have the car back and have it restored to it's original state.

I Agree think about how many people have turned these cars into V8 and clone's number of survivors must be low. I did just read a thread that the best clone cars are 6 cylinder the thought is they were not driven very hard and many have low millage. It takes great discipline to keep a survivor there is so much you can do to these cars.

There was a straight six '69 at one of the cruise nights recently and it was getting a lot of attention.

I remeber when I was a 16 year old kid, a guy that I worked with was selling me his '67 6 cylinder, 3 speed on the floor manual, Aqua Green, black interior and black rag top for $500. The car was in very nice shape ... but back then it was just another used car with something like 75K miles on it.

I wish I had that car now.

Mine originally had a six, but when I bought it 14 years ago, it had been swapped out for a small block. A couple of years later, I swapped that for a big block.
To this day, I've never even seen a first-gen with the six still in it. I imagine they're pretty rare anymore indeed.

Here's a picture of my Inline 6, It's all matching numbers and I would not trade it for an V8. With every Tom, Dick and Harry swaping out the 6 cyl with 8 cyls, it's just a matter of time before there's not many 6's left. Keep up the good work and every 6 cyl that is changed to an 8 the value of my car goes up. :hurray:

The worth of a car is not always in dollars. Most cars do not appreciate. Sometimes the value is in having something a little different to drive.
