68z28sd Jun 6th, 07, 07:44 AM looks pretty rough, i say between $5000 and $10000.
travlinz28 Jun 6th, 07, 07:51 AM I'd say about 12K. judging by the pics.
Jonesy Jun 6th, 07, 08:09 AM The trans is out of a 68 Corvette. All other numbers look good.
I would say more like $17-$20K with orig engine and rear.
It is missing some expensive engine parts - Carb and dist.
Red with Black Vinyl and Black Comfortweave. Nice combo.
no69x-44 Jun 6th, 07, 08:36 AM Definitely rough - But I think we have all seen worse. Certainly restorable. Seems like a nice find. Real Z's are getting harder to come by.
Kevin - I the care fairly local? What's the history behind it? Curious.
KevinW Jun 6th, 07, 09:14 AM Rob, Bill will have to answer the history part, but the car is very local to us, about 5 min away from me :)
What about the springs we were talking about? Do we do something before we both go on vac (the same time BTW :) ) Send me an email, no PM. PM is filling up.
0713wl Jun 6th, 07, 02:20 PM Do not have much history I purchased it about five years ago from a person in New Jersey. It was last registered in Conn.

I agree. Dated parts are easier to find than the original block.
Mike69X66 Jun 6th, 07, 08:53 PM Bill if you are seriously interested in selling it please email me at
X77crossram@charter.net. As I would be very interested in buying the car.
travlinz28 Jun 6th, 07, 11:34 PM Kevin,
One thing you and Bill might do before listing the car for sale is drop the gastank. Many Van Nuys built cars had broadcast sheets attached to the top of the tank. It's worth a try because if any of it is there it could significantly increase the value of the car.
ChevyThunder Jun 6th, 07, 11:34 PM I agree that if the block is original to the car it is worth more like 20K . I have a Van Nuys Z that needs restoring but every component is there down to the original UH radiator and spiral shocks. I have a standing offer of 32k that wants me to counter. I think my body is in much better shape too but still I think it is a solid comp for a 20k value for your car

Yes, it does
;)

Thanks for the reply. I have the gas tank out and have search all other areas of the car and have not found broadcast sheet. What would you value at without the sheet? Something I did find mounted behind the dash is I am being told is a multiplexor (not sure of spelling) for an 8 track player.
Thanks Bill
travlinz28 Jun 7th, 07, 02:58 PM Bill,
My opinion is around 12K. That is simply based on a few pictures which is not altogether a fair way to value a car.

You will never buy that car for $12K with an original engine. It is unclear how bad the rust is though.
Mike69X66 Jun 7th, 07, 05:58 PM It's gonna take another 30k to finish that car... then whats it worth? I may give the 20k if you want to sell it assuming the numbers match....
ChevyThunder Jun 8th, 07, 09:56 AM Yes, it does
;)
If I could only find a competent guy to do the job....
ragtop69 Jun 9th, 07, 08:21 AM hi 6 months ago a z close to that condition sold on ebay for 10500.00. it had trans, motor, rear end all born with but very rusty. i know this because he offer to me for 9,000.00 before it went to flea bay . you must figure what it would cost to restore it before you say car is worth 20,000.00. i know more people are qualified to answere this question of car worth.then i . love this site had to give my 2 cents.:)
BelAirBob Jun 9th, 07, 09:59 AM It's gonna take another 30k to finish that car... then whats it worth? I may give the 20k if you want to sell it assuming the numbers match....
I agree...Even if I did the work myself, this car would take a minimum of $30K to bring back. If she looks that rusty in the pics, shes really rusty in person. I know its all matching, and thats a big plus, but if it were not, it looks like it'd be a candidate for a rebody..:o Once you pile $30K into the $20K number being bounced around, you have a pretty expensive L.A.- built car. Doubt it would bring $50K restored from what prices are doing currently. IMO,plan to keep it several years to get the investment back out of it.
