View Full Version : Hello...Hello.......Hello..
paulm Jun 6th, 07, 12:46 PM It sure is quiet in here!!! :( I think I hear an echo!
I've tried to get some discussions going in here to no avail.
Let's see what could I talk to myself about today? Hmmmm....
You know I was thinking, if I had an adjustable pressure regulator with my MPFI setup and 24 lb injectors, how much more could I get out of them? How high could I adjust the pressure? Or since the baseline PSI for MPFI is 44, how low could I adjust the pressure if I had injectors that are too big?
So as a guideline could I say that you can run 35 to 55 PSI which would result in a +/- change of 2 lbs per hour from the baseline rating at 44 PSI?
69 merlinpro565 Jun 6th, 07, 01:43 PM Set the pressure around, say 100psi, and give your cylinders a good cleaning!
Ok, maybe not too funny, but not as much of an echo echo echo now!
I too wish this would get more busy...seems like there would be a fair amount of chatter here.
Seems to me that a few here are doing fuel injection, so maybe some will open up and get the party going! Glad it's here though.
Rodder Jun 6th, 07, 03:18 PM A quick Google search came up with a page with formulas calculating what you asked about:

paulm Jun 6th, 07, 03:43 PM So, +/- 2 was pretty close....
JimM Jun 6th, 07, 09:30 PM there was a lot of chatter at first... wonder where everyone went?
Wth the "new" vette in the garage, I probsbly won't do my efi till winter...

Still sitting around waiting for AGR to fix my @#$ steering box... need to drive the car some to get motivated to work on it.
Fred Ficarra Jun 6th, 07, 11:18 PM OK, here's some chatter;
I've raced three times this past month. I have and old Holley Projection4 system. The first time down the track was disappointingly slow. Then after lowering the air pressure in my tires, the car hooked. As soon as it hit second gear i found myself pushing on the steering wheel telling it to GO. But it just went flat and would only reach 107mph. Well, 38 years ago, with the same drive-line stuff, my 396 with a carburetor went that fast. The L88 with Holley TBI should go one second quicker and at least 10MPH faster. I called Holley Monday and they agreed. No cure. System too small. Now what? Today I talked to these guys; http://www.retrotekspeed.com/products/bossefi/bossefi-single-quad.html
Hopefully their system will have enough capacity and still keep my ducted hood components intact. How's that for chatter?
JimM Jun 7th, 07, 06:50 AM You can get larger injectors for your tbi, I think paul has some.
What's in it now?
You can also get a 900 cfm throttle body.
You could even convert to a commander 950 controller instead of the dialbox'!

That looks pretty cool!! Very stealthy fuel injection setup!

My old analog system has 80 pound injectors. Only thing bigger is the new 85 pounders. Holley said it just wouldn't help.
My throttle body is rated at 900cfm.
Convert? Not sure that's cost affective.
Today I identified 3 possible problems. I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS again! The first project is to install a fuel pump relay. (nearly done) Then comes more fuel pressure, ( up to 22 psi vs. 15 psi) then I'll jack-up the pots to take advantage of the increased pressure. And if that doesn't increase my ET's I can raise my TPS sensor voltage!
This is so much better than jet changes!
Fred Ficarra Jun 9th, 07, 01:43 PM Update; Good thing my engine is loud. The fuel pump is now running off of the relay. It's so much louder now that it sounds like an airplane doing a fly-by. Three times the noise. Now to test it next week at the strip. (one change at a time. )
