hey guys, got something for you to think about. alright, i don't know too much about these, but i saw someone selling an electric trunk latch for a 69 camaro. i was wondering what option this was. i was told that the latch came both from the factory AND was, more times than not, installed at the dealership. i was told the latch was for a z/28, but was wondering if this option could be ordered and installed on any models, not just the z/28? the man told me the "name" of the latch installed in the factory was a "barell" latch, i believe. don't know what this means, but thats what he said. i don't know if any of this is true, thats why i'm coming to team camaro for this one. i know someone out theres gotta know. thanks for your time and thanks team camaro for being the best! -Dan

Dan its not a factory camaro option at all, some dealers might have installed it but its not factory. Firebirds might have had it as a factory option but not camaro. The same question came up last week, be sure to chech the search function as it might get you an answer sooner.

well thanks Jim. i tried doing a search on here before i had posted the topic, but didn't find a single thing. i don't think my search skills are up to par with this website. i seem to do that a lot. i saw your link and it took me right there. its good to know now its not a camaro option. i was one of those unsuspecting ebayers who almost fell into the trap, but had to find out from team camaro first. i knew i hadn't ever seen it in a camaro, or even heard of it as an option for a first generation. makes perfect sense though its from a firebird. fits just right. pretty neat device though. thanks again for the help. -Dan

Berry you use the tiny chain link icon above where you type. First you get the place where you want to link too... such as on ebay or another thread so it shows up your address bar, then you highlight it and use "copy"... then you type in this box whatever you want to use as I did....'camaro trunk release' then highlight those 3 words, then click on the chain link icon, a box comes up blank, use your 'paste' in that area and then click the ok, it puts that huge long address into a 'non seen' script but the words you want people to see 'camaro trunk release' now contain that whole link and take you to it. :)

Not factory, it is a bolt in aftermarket kit. We have them in our online store at the link in our signature for $159 which is $10 off retail.

It was only a factory option for Firebirds, I think starting in 68.
