I'm looking at a 68 camaro. It is exceptionaly clean both in and out. It is silver with the black stripe around the nose, has the ss hood and is badged as a 396ss. It has a 454 that is supposed to be puched out 40 over. It has a 350 auto trans with a 303 posi 10 bolt rear. The dash is a factory A/C dash, but the fan, heater core and switches are missing. The body and interior are very clean and not hacked up. The owner is firm on $20,000.00. Is it a decent price? Thanks one and all for your help!

Sounds a little high for a six cyl car converted to a SS clone with a ten bolt, and a hacked up A/C system. His other post has a 123 vin listed.
More info required, Pictures would help...................

are you sure it was an A/C car, all 68's had the side vents in the dash.

IT would have to be really nice to earn 20 large, and I mean solid nice, look hard for rust bubbling thru the pretty paint, all the corners of every panel, and base of the windshield and back window. Get underneath, and crawl in the trunk if you have too, looks for signs of body repair (all will have such signs but you wanna see signs it was done well.)

The dash has the a/c control set up and the two side round vents plus the top of dash center slot. I hear you on the body and my friend who owns a body and resto shop is going to give it a once over. I am just still unsure about the 20K, although most of what I see for 15-20K is sh**!!!!

If it's nicely dona AND your friend checks it out good (on a lift) and you're happy with what you see, it could be an ok deal. So many are given a quick "bondo and shoot it" pretty up job for resale and come back and bite you hard in a few years.

I had that exact thing happen on my 67 chevelle ss. Took it to my friend to blast and repaint - when the paint came off, the only things we could save was the hood, roof, trunk lid and the two doors. Everything else was bondo or dum-dum hiding leaks or aliens. That time I didn't have my friend check it first because he was out of town and "I knew what I was doing"!!! Oh yea. This time, he checks it and then we go from there.
