Copied from an archieved post:

For 68, the dash face is a low gloss, and the dash top is "O" gloss, with a suede finish (texturizer). As far as what type of paint, it depends on your goal. Lacquer is "correct", but may be harder to find and more susceptible to scratches and damage.

If your dash happens to be black, a lot of guys are happy with Rustoleum 7777 satin black on the face. Wears well, and costs $5 at any local store that sells paints.

If using Krylon, what prep/gegreaser product works? I've tried Martin Senor, Laquer Thinner, Mineral Spirits and even rubbing alcohol - they all seem to soften the Krylon.

why would you use krylon to paint your metal dash?
that stuff is plastic paint...

and I think you would have been better off to start a new thread
