View Full Version : Anybody watch Sopranos finale?
VI009DZ Jun 11th, 07, 12:25 PM Are you as disappointed as the rest of the world? I followed the series for a few years, mostly through casual conversation and the random watched episode; was never a Sopranos Geek by anymeans, and it was still disappointing. Oh well. Makes for a nice movie pickup later on I guess.....
1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Jun 11th, 07, 01:16 PM I think everyone that was watching was disappointed.
Everett#2390 Jun 11th, 07, 01:40 PM It leaves it open for the movie.......
67pat Jun 11th, 07, 02:45 PM I may be in the minority...but I liked it.You cant tell me at the end of it you werent on your seat thinking whats gonna happen here,or whos this guy...what relevence did the delay in Meadow parking the car have.I think it was true to the series, you know these mob guys just go on doing what they do...series ends an hes still under threat to get popped, the feds are closing in with an indictment due to Carlo turning into a rat,I mean this is the life he lead throughout the series and I'm just as glad they didnt have a wholesale bloodbath here because just like Startrec...I'd like to see a return in some capacity...HBO special 2 hr thing or big screen even! Hey...I wanta know if Silvio lives or does he just go on playing in the E-street band for Springsteen?
dmaita Jun 11th, 07, 03:47 PM I also thought it was great!!
Uncle Tupelo Jun 11th, 07, 03:54 PM I have watched EVERY episode from the very first one on...have been a big fan for years, and after the initial shock of the finale wore off this morning I realized how brilliant it actually was.
It has created more converstaion than ANY other episode while allowing the viewers to formulate in their own heads what they "think" happened.
CLASSIC David Chase stuff. It will be a topic of conversation and argument forever. He just made it immortal. Any other ending would have represented finality...this ending keeps it going....even if only in the minds of the fans.
My wife and I have differing opinions on what the ending meant or how things turned out. SHe thinks the blank screen was Tony being killed and never hearing the bullet that did him in...just like he told Bobby in the boat that day..."Ya never even hear the one that gets ya".
I have my own theory.
South Side Goons & Hitmen Jun 11th, 07, 04:35 PM Uncle Tupelo,
I agree with you. The ending does keep it open in the minds of fans, the media, the critics, & everyone else out there. Some have said Meadow was walking in right when the FBI would have subpeona'd him and would try to use her newly acquired law skills to help her dad. Others said some hoodlums walked in and would have robbed the fast food store and a shooting would have ensued. While others said the guy that went to the bathroom was not FBI, (I thought he was FBI). and he was was one of Phil's angry associates looking for revenge.
Like you said and others here have said it now leaves it open to the silver screen and you know that will rake in hundreds of millions here in the USA and more $$$$$$$$ across the globe. Kudos to David Chase. He did it right.
In the end, you gotta love the respect shown between Tony & the FBI guy (Agent Harris). If I am correct at least on the show they both grew up in the same neighborhood, they were friends as kids but they took separate career paths. Nonetheless you can say Agent Harris alerted Tony about the target Phil put on T's back. And you know for that Tony was thankful. I know I would be.
Great series. I think I started watching it in 2002 which was about a year or two after it came out. Isn't that when Uncle P*$$y got whacked on the boat? Anyway right before Big Puss got whacked is when I started watching it. I thought it was 2002 because I moved around that time.
I thought they would bring Furio back for the final episode.
Lastly, I loved the "Don't Stop Believing" song at the end. Great fitting for the show. Plus it reminded me of The 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox. The Chi-Sox used that song as their rallying cry at the end of the season. Here is what someone else thought of Don't Stop Believin' http://www.thesopranos.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3878
Rich69RS/SS Jun 11th, 07, 05:20 PM If you liked the ending or not everybody is talking about it today, me the more I think about it the more I liked it (ending). If anybody taped it could you tell me what the last songs T looked at before playing the last song ?
ChevyThunder Jun 11th, 07, 05:21 PM I thought the ending was perfect. First , you get to assume what happened. I think if they wacked Tony many people would be saying " why did they have to wack Tony" , how come they did it like this or that ....? Wrapping up a series is a tough thing to do when you are expecting people to get "hit" , It is not like Friends where they just move into a new building or switch partners or whatever it ws they did on that show.
Plus.... it leaves it open to a movie or a new season with out having to do the "miricle recovery " , from the shot gun to the head, season premier. This way it is Tony's here and that stugats breaker Phil is gone.
I liked how Phil got wacked. That guy was a first class jerk!

lukeciffer Jun 11th, 07, 07:42 PM i haven't seen seasons 6 or 7 cuz i don't have HBO . it's obvious he didn't get killed. he didn't become an informant did he?
AlexFolino Jun 12th, 07, 09:57 PM Terrible terrible ending. Makes me think however though that there might be this out of nowhere theres going to be another season or a special episode to finalize this series.

I couldn't have said it better! Two thumbs down!!!!!!!!!!!
SavageCanuck Jun 12th, 07, 10:10 PM I think they set it up for the BIG SCREEN.But it's typicall Sopranos that T lives with all the suffering he must endure. The latest Bobby and Silvio and Pauly not wanting a promotion.Lots of stuff to make a Movie
My all time favorite episode was PINE BARONS were Pauly and Christopher set out to wack a guy in the woods and ended up stranded and freezing. Lots of laughs and drama!!
shoddy_F-body Jun 13th, 07, 05:39 PM They just ran that one on Monday night on A&E channel.Very funny.
