...This should be pretty neat to see
Farm Boy Jun 12th, 07, 09:40 AM I wonder what they did to prepare the car for 50 years of underground storage.
Did they:
drain the fuel (run it until it ran out of gas)?
remove the battery?
drain the coolant from the radiator and block?
remove the plugs, squirt oil into cylinders, and replace plugs?
loosen up the valve train to close the valves on all cylinders and take the pressure off the valve springs?
place car on jackstands so the weight of the car is on the suspension?
Can you think of anything else?
DjD Jun 12th, 07, 09:58 AM I like how they included gas and oil in case there was none available in 2007. Wonder how those cardboard oil cans held up? Think the vintage gas might still be higher quality than what we get today??? ;)

That I can answer- probably pretty good. I've got some old Castrol oil cans from the 50's and they haven't leaked at all yet. :D

Not if the car has been spending 50 years in a humidity chamber! I will be logged on to watch this friday but I would be surprised if the car has not been attacked by moisture. Concrete is not damp proof and 50 years of traffic driving 10 feet from the concrete bunker it is bound to cause water to find it's way into the cavity.
Musclecar Jun 12th, 07, 06:52 PM Well, they have supposedly already dug around the cement vault to check and see if the seal had been broken. So far everything looks good. The team that is going to lift the car out of it's 50 year resting place has been practicing up in coffeeville, ks this past week. They want to make sure everything goes smooth since soooo many people will be watching.....:D

supposedly the vault was full of water. They were pumping it out today. I'm sure the car is a big rust bucket now. It's too bad.

Hylton Jun 14th, 07, 10:28 AM The exterior painted areas might look okay. It's the underside of the car that will be a mess.
JOE58 Jun 14th, 07, 05:07 PM The Egyptian's mummies look better and they are 5000 years old
