hey guys,
just crawled under my 68 convertible to check out the floor x-brace and i can't see it. is it hidden or should it be visible. maybe the car doesn't even have one. if anyone has any pictures of a convertible undercarriage, i'd love to see them.
thanks.

Memory serves me, should be about 2X3 ft and bolted right to the floor, it would enclose the driveshaft, somewhat.

You can't miss it if it was there, Obviously, your's is missing.

thanks everett.
i was wondering why i have so much body flex. i don't understand why someone would take it off, but people do some strange things.

Mine was missing on the 67 too, but I found one on a 68 Firebird.

hey geezer,
could you tell a big difference after you put it on?
btw, i used to have a friend that lived out there by that big golf ball. there's some good cruising out there!

You would see it if it was there. Many were removed, tron off on speed bumps, etc. If you have dual exhaust, there is clearance problems although some have shimmed the brace down to fit.

You can definetly tell the difference between a car with the brace and without. it may not look like much, but it serves its purpose well. A good pipe bender can make a dual exhaust system fit with no modifications as well.

Mine is missing too! I never thought much about it until reading the posts about the difference.

Anybody know where I can get one?

all the repro houses have them, i think they run about $90 or so. of course, i don't know how the fit is on the reproduction, but i'll probably give it a shot, because i've only seen a few originals for sale over the past year.

actually, i've already looked at the pictures you have posted before this topic. man, that is a sweet looking ride and you are lucky that i didn't see it before you! love that RS lower body molding. I'm going to put that on mine, even though it's a std. camaro.

just for reference, i have put a brace on my car now. i don't know if it's my imagination, but i can really tell a difference in how stable the car feels.
