Is there a special way of hooking the pitman arm up to the drag link. Thanks Rodder Jun 15th, 07, 12:17 PM with a nut and a cotter pin? Not sure what you are asking... you just lift the drag link up onto the pitman arm. I only had the left side off the ground when I did it last night, so I had to grab the ragjoint and turn it some to get the pitman arm lined up with the drag link. Flynn69 Jun 15th, 07, 01:55 PM I saw somewhere you had to have the pitman arm lined up at a certain degree ,when hooking to the center link. 68Holdon Jun 15th, 07, 02:00 PM Iam not aware of anything special you need to do. I replaced my steering box and all of my steering components and it works great. 400bird Jun 15th, 07, 02:08 PM The output shaft on the box is splined so that it only goes on 4 ways one of the 4 positions will obviously be correct just make sure you dont but it on back wards or 90 degrees off madmax87 Jun 15th, 07, 02:20 PM Errol, usually what I do is make sure the steering box is centered. Manually move it to one stop and count how many revolutions to get to the other stop. Then move it back 1/2 way. Make sure your wheels are facing straight and the spline and pitman arm should be pretty close to lining up. Like 400bird says, it will only go on 4 ways and if your box is centered, it will be pretty obvious if you have it wrong. Unless you changed that box to a pwr steering one, I believe that pitman arm that was on there (if we're talking about the blue Camaro) was for pwr steering. Hey, just re-read your post. I was talking about steering box to pitman arm, not pitman arm to drag link. (Sorry) Flynn69 Jun 16th, 07, 04:00 AM I,m changing the whole unit.Pitman arm is already on. But I need the info for both ways. Becaus I will be doing a steering column alignment also. Thanks to all Emailing you today Dennis.------------------------------------------ 69 Calif.
