how good is the quality of these products? is it better to restore the original stuff, or does this repoduction stuff look good?

i was told buy a body shop today that it is best to use original stuff because these repo products are crap, and come in conditions that have to be fixed. that you cant just add a new door and paint it, that it will still need much work...

who has ordered repo parts and is satisfied?

I have personally used the repro 'made in usa' full floors and trunk extensions/gas tank supports and they are excellent. I have heard, but don't have experience yet, that the Goodmark doors/door skins, fenders and quarters are also good quality. Part of your decision process, too, is where you want to spend $. My car is my hotrod and I don't want to spend high $ on original sheetmetal.

For the most part, I have had good luck with Goodmark parts and I believe thats what Classic sells. On another note, lots of body shops are forced by insurance companies to use aftermarket parts to repair average street cars. Some of these parts leave something to be desired to say the least. In my experience, Goodmark parts are a step above the aftermarket parts made for collision repair but I work mostly on muscle cars and not much on grocery getters so my experience is somewhat limited.

I sell this stuff from Classic on the side and have personally never had any complaints about fit or quality. The other day I had a door skin put on for a 68 Camaro. It took the guy all but an hour 1/2 to remove the old skin, clean up and install the new one. Looked Great!!! Go to your home page and type in the key words Camaro Classifieds. It is the big red Page and look for my postings. You'll be very pleased that you did!

I have been installing all the repro stuff on my 69 camaro ss,trunk and cowl hood ok,Goodmark quarters ok,but had a couple low spots to repair, drivers door full shell, close but needed some filler work on gaps between fender and door, door skin was loose when I received and had to redo some spot welds, also came with a dent which I had to dolly out, then comes the real fun, hung the door and fender passenger side, big gaps, front and rear of door, also a goodmark new door,on fender had to remove rear mounting bracket and reweld to get the gap better back to the front of the door, tried old fender and it seams like this new fender was a little short, along with the door and yes the full quarters were put on perfectly, right on at where they were cut off.All panels have had some small low spots which have had to have iceing put on them and flat blocked, rear tail pan great as was the rear window panel, full floors have a lot to be desired, workable but not easy, top of dash panel, real good and easy to install. The car I rebuilt was a $100.00 69 camaro from Illinois, really rusty and a real challenge,so if you only have a few panels to replace I would go with the more expensive nos stuff,if you need them all as I did go with the repro stuff but will take more time and more body work,d&r camaro in Warrenville has a bunch of nos body parts, when I restored my 70 chevelle ss 3 years ago,I used all nos stuff anf they fit like a glove,Good luck!!!
