I've got an 89 RS and when I first got it it had problems, sometimes it'd cut off and not turn on for 10-15 minutes. Thought and was told that was the ignition control module. Got that changed out, somehow my ignition rotor got shorted needed a new one. Then I got it back but it still had a problem of just dying when coming to a complete stop and starting up fine but dying if I threw it in drive unless I reved it a good amount.
The car started bucking a little bit after this, but I figured it was the fuel filter so yesterday I changed out the fuel filter and it seems to not have the dying/not starting problem so far but I haven't had enough time to really tell, however it's still bucking and the magic number seems to be around 2500rpm because it runs nicely at high rpms for the most part. It's odd, sometimes when I floor it it'll do the usual jerk back for a second and speed ahead and sometimes it just kinda hesitates and it doesn't drive anywhere near as smooth.
Could it be needing new spark plug wires or what else might cause this? I'm moving 200 miles away soon and I just want to have everything fixed before I drive on the highway that far.
