Hi, I just bought an "SS Ram air hood" from Suncoast industries for my 1995 z28.... I got the thing on there by myself.... that was the easy part... I have ground down all of the sides to make the whole thing smooth and perfect.... It's bolted down nice and good... but when I go to close it, there is a lot of pressure on the hood, and it seems like the hood is hitting something underneath... I had an aftermarket custom (Under car) ram air intake system, it was made of aluminum tubing, and I found out that the hood was hitting it, the hood was also hitting my battery (Larger than stock), so I replaced it with a smaller battery, but it is still doing the same thing.... it takes a LOT of pressure on the front of the hood to close it, then when I pop it open, it jumps up about 5 inches untill the latch catches it.... I can't understand why a fiberglass hood would have so much pressure on it... is this normal??? It seems like that would break the hood after a while.... I don't know this is why I am asking...

Hmmm.

You have struts that hold up your hood, right?

I would think that this fiberglass hood is lighter than your stock one, so the struts are way too strong.

yes it has struts, but the hood came with softer struts for the fiberglass hood.... it's a great hood, if I can get the thing to fit right... lol...

I figured out what it is.... the radiator is hitting on the hood on the inside.... the shrowd, and the radiator cap and neck... there is a cut-out in the bottom of the hood for these to fit into, but they are about an inch from the cut out.... anyone used hoods from this company before??? Suncoast Hoods or something like that.... they are a big hood manufacturer.... I need help with this soon... thanks!!!

i have the Suncoast ss hood on my 95 Z , but i really didn't have any issues with it.......other than, i wish i would have bought a genuine gm ss hood...

I GOT ONE FROM RK SPORT IT FIT VERY GOOD BEEN ON THE CAR FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS, ON A 96 Z28 ALSO PUT A 2002 SS SPOILER ON FROM THEM.
