On my 396BB engine i was running a 195* thermostat and the car was running between 210* & 230*. I changed the thermostat today to 160* high flow unit. Now the car is running at 195*. My tempture sending unit is located on the drivers side head. I was wondering if the tempture sending unit should be in the intake manafold by thermostst houseing? Somebody told me that the reading at the intake manafold would be about 20* cooler. Is it normal for the reading at the head to be that much hotter then the set tempture on the thermostat.
