Please tell me if it looks like a good deal for the money.

Also please enlighten me about the 389 engine....is it considered a "boat anchor"? Or can it be made to haul ass relatively easy?

this always bothers me:

"The bottom of the car and wheelwells have been undercoated to protect it and also it looks fresh and clean."

i have seen to many people get burned with this trick by hiding unrepaired thin/soft floor pans

also fresh spatter in the trunk can hide alot - the left trunk pan plug looks odd

How can I tell if it doesn't have rusty floor pans that have been half repaired?

I couldn't hit the floor with my fist and tell could I?

Obviously if I see dips in the floor pans indicates something is up.

Lift the carpet up and check out how it looks underneath.

Good eye Todd, seems somebody shot some splatter over the trunk floor to 'freshen' it. Bet there is a ton of rust under that. Dont buy it till you see it.

The fact that the car was painted a year ago and is already bubbling is certainly a red flag as well. Despite what the seller says. Its defnintely a car you have to see in person to know. There could certainly be a lot of hidden issues, And i suspect there probably is. My suspicion from just the pics is that its not worth 11 grand.

I agree with the above although the car does have some pluses...the engine bay looks good and from what I can tell at least in pictures the interior looks very good.I would check it out, here it run ,drive it and look the pans and paint over really well, like everyone else said...i also dont think the amount of rubber hes got on it with a 330hp..389ci is gonna last very long, just a thought on a future expense.

If it was a camaro in that condition for 10k imo it would be a fair deal. However I dunno how the firebirds prices compare to camaros.

On the other hand your also talking about fayetteville, seems every time I try to do a deal around there something goes wrong. No offense to the area, just alot of locals try to take advantage of the military there it seemed to me. I could leave area around pope and goto burlington nc and make a car deal 1/2 the cost in fayettnam.

its to cheap for what he is advertising. got to look underneath in person.also take a magnet with you too see if a bondo and paint job too make nice to get money out of car.long story short i bought mine off of e bay lokes better than that. bought for 6000 and 32000 latter almost done. after stripped and frame off you find alot of stuff that is wrong or fixxed up.

after looking at the car shown in the picture on the ebay add in total disarray (apparently a rust bucket) what they started with.I would highly recomend a visual check. That car has had some serious working over.Sorry but with that amount of work I wouldnt take a picture and a conversation over the phone as gosphel. If your really interested in buying it Go Look at It.Also ask for reciept's in those look for new quarter panels fender's door skin's and on and on

"after looking at the car shown in the picture on the ebay add in total disarray (apparently a rust bucket) what they started with"

How did you come by the car is a total rust bucket? That old blue car in the pictures is another one he is selling.

This car looks no worse than others I have seen around locally for ruffly the same price.

I agree with others though a visual inspection is always better than an e-bay ad.

You are correct, most locals around here know that someone on Bragg or Pope is wanting an old classic (or any car for that matter) and as a result the prices tend to get inflated some. But in my experience of living here that tends to hold more true with the car dealerships, though I won't rule out some of the residents aren't doing the same.

And yes, for those that didn't follow thru on this, that rusted blue car in the pics is actually a 1967 Camaro he's selling w/o reserve for $3k, and yes it's pretty rough. It's not the same car as the Firebird he's selling.

i realized the blue car was not the same car - again my concerns were those of the stated "cover up" signs (undercoating & fresh spatter) and the bubbling concerns in the trunk pan

I wouldn't buy it based solely on the Edelbrock sticker on the valve cover.

He has lowered the price to 9,900. If I were interested in the car and close to it I would try to get over there asap to check it out.

He seems very motivated to sell, who knows it may not be that bad. However there are only 2 days left on the auction.

Go check it out, and if you feel its worth $$ then go for it. A vehicle is only worth what your willing to pay for it is how I look at it.

Probably just a way of getting his ad more noticed....although it's more confusing.

You're in Fayetteville, NC. The car is listed as being in Fayetteville, NC.

Go over and give it a thorough examination and test drive.

Looking at the engine compartment everything including brake lines
have been sprayed with that black undercoating stuff. I got burned on
E-Bay so bad, the car looked great in the ad, but it turned out to be
a rust bucket! I can see signs of rust in the truck pan, it's got to be
thru whole car. Guy did a nice coverup though.

As much as he spent on getting the drum brakes "re-done" he could have gotten brand new disc brakes all around.

Thats what I'm sayin, for that money I would have bought a disc brake kit.

I'd be very leary buying this without personally inspecting.

Says he bought on ebay 10 months ago, looking through his feedback, I would guess he bought it from "gtodoug5" unless he uses another ebay account, maybe try contacting gtodoug5 and see if he sold it any info.

Beware is all I can say!

I'd be very careful about buying that one without checking the floorboards and body work in person first. 66 Bonneville Motor had a lot of torque not much on performance compared to 396 Chevy motor

I'd guess it's worth about $9,999.00

Give or take a few.
