Hey guys, I've received two sets of hood insulation clips (factory style) from ricks for my 68 and they don't hold. I have been happy with Ricks but is there another vendor out there who makes them right that someone could clue me in on. I have a show this weekend and want that finished. Thanks.
P.S. The funny thing is I have an incorrect looking set (flat without four holes) and they have the christmas tree type of insert and they work great!

If you are not concerned with originality, I got some nice ones from Ace hardware in their misc. bin in the nut and bolt section. :)

Thanks, I have the incorrect looking ones also and they work great, but I'm looking for the correct looking repop's. I actually called NPD and they said they have them from another vender so I ordered them. I'll let everyone know if they work.

I gave up on the originals and went with the modern round ones--they work great.

Before installing the repros spread the prongs apart; squeeze them together and pop them in. They will hold just fine.

Mine did the same thing, then I looked at another person car also with the correct clips from ricks and noticed he had put match sticks up there to keep it apart I know it stinks, but it better than the wrong look. phil

I had the same problem with the ones from Ricks. I cut a small strip of black duct tape and folded it over a couple of times. Then I slipped it into the opening on the side that goes into the hood.It took a couple of tries to get it just right, but I have not had one pop back out since. And you can't see that it's there like you can with the matchsticks.I would guess that black electrical tape would work also.

How about other colors of duct tape or electrical tape, besides black? Would they work? ;)

No, sorry only Black, it has something to do with Gamma Rays and the way water goes down the drain south of the equator.

of course :)
But, you can see in where you have to put the tape, and black blends in with the the black clip. Details, Details...
