Wasn't sure where to post this question....

I need to know if '68 Z28's came with a cowl induction hood. I was always under the impressiont that they always had the flat hood and the SS got the cowl with the ornamental pieces attached to it.

Thanks.

The cowl hood was introduced in '69. The SS hood has a raised area in the center with the finned insert (all 67's and '68 small blocks) or the stacks insert ('68 big block and all 69's). In '68 there may have been some mixing of the fins and stacks.

The '68 Z/28 came with a flat hood...

Just for some information, my 68 did come with stacks rather than fins and it is an SS 350. It is a CA car made the 3rd week in July.

I had a high school friend who got a new SS350 in May of 68. Her car also had the stacks on the hood.

There was only one 68 Z/28 ever built with a ZL-2 cowl induction hood. All the rest got flat hoods as was stated earlier. Lots of them have been added later though.

It was not available as an option until mid production 69 on Z/28's and SS cars. Even then it was very rare. The High Performance COPO cars had them and the Pace Cars had them as standard. It was not available with an I-6 or any of the base V-8 engines.
