View Full Version : ,69 Z/28 302 Air Cleaner Decal Location
dh302 Jun 26th, 07, 12:48 PM All,
Does anybody have dimension information or pictures of the correct location of the 302 decal that goes on a '69 Z/28 cowl air cleaner lid? I did a search, but couldn't fine anything.
Thanks,
Doug
JohnZ Jun 26th, 07, 02:50 PM The A.I.M. (Z28, Sheet A5) shows 2.25" from the center of the stud to the top edge of the decal, but it looks better at 2.5". :thumbsup:
dh302 Jun 27th, 07, 08:41 AM OK. What is the A.I.M.?
Thanks,
Doug
68DaveV Jun 27th, 07, 09:03 AM Well, it used to mean "Airman's Information Manual", but now to be politically correct it is "Aeronautical Information Manual".
Or maybe it's the Assembly Instruction Manual?
click Jun 27th, 07, 09:21 AM Doug when you own a first gen camaro, you need the AIM in your garage.. Assembly Information Manual, it has all the details of how the car is put together, wiring, bolts, etc. :) available from many sources, online on ebay or parts houses like Ricks etc.
Camaro Billy Jun 27th, 07, 10:22 AM I can't live without the AIM.
I'm always saying "The AIM says this, or The AIM says that"
So much that my buddy Tony has come up with a new word for me.
He says I'm too AIMal.

dh302 Jun 27th, 07, 10:50 AM OK. I'm sorry, I do have an assembly instruction manual. The "AIM" threw me. Is there a trick to looking up stuff in that manual? I haven't figured out how to look stuff up in it. I just have to start at the front and start flipping pages. I went through it last night looking for the 302 decal information, but I must have skipped over it.
Thanks,
Doug
zdld17 Jun 27th, 07, 11:14 AM This manual is very informational to the younger crowd and you need it, as us "old foggies" dont plan on being around forever.
click Jun 27th, 07, 11:39 AM especially the way those Texas guys make their brats :D

The front section of the manual covers all the parts required to build a "base car" - no options - arranged by the GM UPC's (Uniform Parts Classfication):
0 = General Information
1 = Body & Trim/Hardware
2 = Frame
3 = Front Suspension
4 = Rear Suspension & Driveline
5 = Brakes
6 = Engine
7 = Clutch & Transmission
8 = Fuel & Exhaust
9 = Steering
10 = Wheels & Tires
11/13 = Front Sheet Metal & Grille & Cooling
12 = Electrical
14 = Bumpers & Miscellaneous
The second half of the manual is the Options, organized by sales RPO Codes, in alphabetical order (A - Z). The body, from the firewall back, was built, painted, and trimmed by Fisher Body; none of those parts are in the Chevrolet assembly manual - it only covers Chevrolet-installed parts.
The decal information you asked about is in the Z28 section, on sheet A5. :thumbsup:
