View Full Version : T-3 Headlight BOB68396/350 Jun 26th, 07, 01:24 PM What is the correct T-3 headlight for my 1968 Camaro? Thanks Bob z28doug Jun 26th, 07, 06:57 PM Bob, A '68 T-3 has the vertical lines in the background of the triangle. If your looking for original make sure the DOT marking isn't anyplace to be found. In general 55-57 had one style T-3, another style for 58-59, another for 60-66, and another for 67-72. There is some overlap on some years. I've found original '67 era, four headlamp cars with two vertical line bulbs and two clear field bulbs. Hope that helps, Doug BOB68396/350 Jun 27th, 07, 08:21 AM That's great information....thanks Doug. Pacecarjeff Jun 27th, 07, 09:40 AM The 67 Corvettes used a clear triangle for the 4 bulb system. When did the lines appear, cause i have NEVER seen a 2 bulb with the clear triangle. only lines (late), and shaded (early) Doug, Was the larger 2 bulb system ever made with a clear triangle for 67? or did that 2 bulb version begin again, with Camaro using the triangle w/lines in late 66? I have seen them mixed also, but no way to be sure some were not replaced early on. z28doug Jun 27th, 07, 07:21 PM Jeff, I used to go hunting for these headlights in my spare time and sell them on ebay, but I've personally never seen a clear field large T-3. I have seen them for sale and advertised as correct for the 62-66 Nova. Virtually all the original 60-66 cars I have found have had the clear field bulbs so I've assumed the large bulb was made the same way. Never ran across an original headlight 62-66 Nova to cross reference. As far as the '67 Corvette I'll take your word for it. I do know I've found many, many original vertical line T-3's on '67 GM products. In my experience it has been the norm, with a handful of mixed clear field. About five or six years ago I found an old junkyard about 20 miles from here that not many people know about. It's one of those that looks like nobody has been there for 25 years+. I took my battery operated drill, five gallon buckets and newspaper and harvested over 140 bulbs. Got them for $1.50 a pop untested. I'd say about 90% or more worked. Made some good money on ebay over the years selling them, not so easy to find these days. By the way, International and Checker cabs came with T-3's originally, so if you spot a broken down old 67-69 International truck sitting by the road check out the headlights. They are correct for the 67-69 Camaro. Enjoy!! Doug |
