Engine will start, idle fine, shift to drive idles fine, takes off fine, when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it stalls, then you have to put in park, start it again, with some trouble, and it repeats the problem over. Problem started once we changed the alternator then changed back b/c the new one would not fit correctly. Does anyone have any answers or suggestions for me to try? Thanks

And it does what if you shift to neutral from 1st?
Is trans okay? I had the experience of the same symptom from a friend's car, 2nd gear clutches were burnt to the steel plates! Slid rear tires and car screeched to a halt.

Trans not shifting to OD is it instead of 2nd?
Manual shifting does ?

Possibly the torque converter is going into lock up?
I assume it's a 700r4, if so try removing the wiring connector on the left side of the trans, and test again.
