Hi guys, I have just redone my 68 camaro convertible. It has a new 383 stroker (435hp/465 tq) and a fresh rebuilt 350 trans. I installed a B&M holeshot 2400 stall converter also (made sure prior to install that we added fluid to the torque converter). The rear is a 10 bolt 3.08, non-posi. We hooked up the throttle linkage and kick down cable this morning (did not set the kick down cable, not sure what to do there). We ran the car while it was on the jack stands and the transmisison fliud level was adjusted to us finally taking it out on the road. We initially took off from my Uncles house and it ran pretty good. We took it to a main road and the turned on it. After giving it some gas, we noticed that the car would not shift correctly into 2 gear or third gear (would have to manually shift it) - It would shift fine if I manufally shifted it. Also, when I was cruising at around 45-50mph and then hit the gas, the car would not really take off, it seemed like the transmission was slipping (seemed like it would not engage properly). Again, if I manually shifted it, it worked good. We did not tweak the kick down cable prior to taking it for ride. Can someone guide me if this may be the issue? Also, we are going to go through the set up tomorrow to make sure the vacuum lines are correctly installed or if some may have have come loose. Any suggestings would be really appreciated. Thanks for your help. :)

Check for vacuum at the modulator on the rear pass side of trans. Kickdwon cable isn't critical for this trans.

Adjust the cable.

It should be set so that at WOT, the cable is pulled out exactly as far as it goes, no more, no less.

I think there's a page or two on this if you search.

With car NOT running...
undo clip on kick down
open throttle all the way
push clip down
Done.

Hi guys, fixed the kick down cable and it works. Also, referencing Jake's post, the vacuum line slid off of the rear modulator. Finally, I am running!!

The lack of vacuum to the modulator is what caused the symptoms. The kickdown cable doesn't have to be hooked up on a TH350. I often build them and plug the hole.

Thanks Jake, I thought the kick down cable had to be installed.
