kinda... this is mostly a 1st gen forum, and 1st gens didn't come with T5's.

First question... are you sure reverse is where you think it is? (ie, sometone hasn't changed knobs to one with the wrong pattern on it)

Second question... are you sure you are hitting the shifter hard enough to get it over to reverse? There may be a spring you have to overcome to actually get over to the reverse gate.

did you check the tranny fluid in there? why i ask this is alot of people take the plug out on the drivers side of tranny. that is for the reverse shaft. the fill plug is on the passenger side of tranny.once you pulled drivers side plug out your done the clip broke came off and shaft wont engage reverse no matter what.

only way to tell is to drain fluid and put a magnet in there. if you get a like a wavy c-clip. he pulled wrong plug. or look at top drivers side of tranny and see if it looks like a socket was put in there.it also takes tranny fluid NOT gear oil.

http://www.rsgear.com/T5NonWC.htm go to this site number 58 is the clip that holds that whole shaft in place to get reverse.89 is the screw outside of tranny that people take out.

there is gear oil in it for sure leaked some when I swaped it into this car.
I am going to look for this clip, I picked up another trans from the junk yard from a 87 car looks like I may swap it out again and hope for the best:sad:
I looked at the bolt it doesnt show any signs that it had a wrench on it.
I did clean up and paint the tranny before I installed it.

I took it apart today and found that the reverse light switch must be the wrong one as it is in to far and jammed the reverse internal linkage.
ITS FIXED!!!!!!:hurray:
