ss 396, how can I tell if it has the original block? Is the block and heads just date coded or do they match the vin also?

There will be a machined pad on the front of the passenger side of the engine, behind/under the alternator where the block and head meet. Look for stamped numbers on that and we can go from there. A pic would be even better :thumbsup:
