speaking for many years of experience, alot of it(painting)comes from lots of hands on and knowing what the material your spraying does and knowing what to do.

In this trade, parctice makes perfect, its not something than can be learned overnite.

I realize that, but most of the work I see body shops do around here is far from perfect...they are more concerned about getting it done quickly than doing it right, so I am sure I can do better than they can. I have done some body work for myself in the past, I am pretty good at welding, so I plan to learn how to shoot base coat clear coat and stick with that. I have a few cars I can practice on before I spray mine. Several people have told me not to listen to any one person...just to read up on painting and practice, but I don't know where to find any info...most of the painting books at stores are so outta date its pitiful.

www.paintucation.com (http://www.paintucation.com) is another good site that sells good tapes. I got the Paint and Rust tapes and am very pleased. Kevin, who runs the sit and created the tapes, has always gone into great detail answering my questions posted to his Q/A board (most before I purchased his tapes).

Also, the previously mentioned autobodystore.com run By Len has been a big help. I got his Painting 101 paint tape which was made about 9 years ago, but he has a new one in production. 101 does not cover some of the newer materials, but still is worth getting since there’s a lot of basic non time dependant info. Also, his message board is first rate like this one on Camaro Tech.

Both above sites are happy to answer questions weather you purchase videos or not. Also, both sites are run by guys with body-paint shops.

P.S. Don't want to leave Camaro Tech off the list it's a big help too, but than everyone reading this knows that.
